A small shrub with broad, thick, waxy leaves and small greenish-yellow flowers. Native to the warm, dry regions of south-western North America.

By contrast, the chemically extracted product is often misleadingly sold as cold-pressed.
A chemical extraction process significantly reduces the nutritional value of the oil.
