The 25th of September will see the launch of my new revised and extended edition of ‘The Encyclopedia of Essential Oils’. We already have a number of pre-publication, signed copies of the book in stock at Aqua Oleum, if you would like to order one ‘hot off the press’!

I wrote the first edition of this book in 1992 simply because there was no comprehensive guidebook covering a wide range of aromatic oils available at that time. The book became a best-seller and was immediately translated into several languages as well as being produced in an illustrated edition. It became the standard textbook for aromatherapy training on an international basis, which has continued until the present day. According to Amazon Books:

“This is one of the bestselling aromatherapy books of all time with vital information on plant origins, medical herbalism and the properties and actions of herbs and essential oils ... this essential handbook is used by aromatherapists all over the world and is one of the most successful titles in this area. It includes an A–Z listing of an enormous range of internationally information is provided for each entry.”

Now this new edition documents about two hundred aromatic oils, including some precious oils, such as pink lotus, as well as several which are relatively new to the aromatherapy market, such as fragonia and plai oil. I have extended the introduction to the book, and included the latest research data about many of the oils: for example, I enjoyed unraveling the distinction between Ravensara and Ravintsara oil. Look out for my other titles, such as ‘The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Essential Oils ‘ and ‘Aromatherapy and the Mind’ which are also due to be re-released as e-books later this month.
